(Briefing, what briefing?)
T'Kai entered the labs in a bit of a fluster, which was unusual for her. She usually was very calm and collected. She wasn't used to everyone speaking to her at one time at the end of the briefing and she had felt a barrage of people for the first time since joining the ship. Her biggest concern, though, was what the Counselor said he needed to "show" her.
She was so preoccupied with this thought, that she ran smack dab into LtJG Garaw as he was getting up to brief her on Lt. Tornav's wherabouts as he had been ordered to.
The ensuing "ummph!" as T'Kai walked right into Garaw was quite unexpected for the Chief Science Officer as she wasn't expecting anyone to accosting her as she walked into the Science Labs.
"Wha...!" was all T'Kai managed to get out before she stopped herself and regained controlled of her body and her senses. She saw Garaw standing before her, extremely embarassed, but still standing firm.
"Lt. Garaw, I presume you need to speak to me?" she said, without sounding too condescending to the poor lad.
Garaw replied a bit meekly, "Yessss Sirrrrr. Lt. Tornav wished for me to inform you that he is in the Five-Forward with the small Trill man should you need him. I am VERY sorry for touching you and I PRAY that I have not OFFENDED you in ANY way, as that was not my intent."
T'Kai sighed....she didn't have time for apologies or emotions at this time...she simply said, "No apologies needed, a warning sound would be more useful in the future, I dare say. Tornav's not here. Noted. Anything else, or do you just intend to just plow me down and then sit on me with more information?" She smiled as she said the last little bit, to try and put him more at ease...he was so awkward when around her...
He started to shake his head, but then stopped, looked to where Lt. Miller had been. He was trying to decide whether he should say something. He wasn't sure whether he should or not.
T'Kai could see that he was deciding on something and was unsure. She sooooo hated that Humans could be so indecisive sometimes. She said, "Well, do you?"
Garaw finally said, "Lt Miller had an altercation with Lt. Azumi in here just a brief time ago. I am unsure as to the nature of the altercation except to say that Lt. Miller brought Lt. Azumi to his knees and rather explicity yelled at him to leave her alone. It was very vocal and got the attention of the whole lab. I'm not sure whether that is something I should share with you, but Lt. Tornav DID leave me in charge until you got back. That is all."
T'Kai simply said, "Thank you, Lt. Garaw, carry on. I'll be in my office for a bit and then I will be heading to the Five Forward. Our latest mission has been temporarily halted and we are now heading to the Morgan Le Fay Station. The nature of our being sent there is not really known, but I am going to want everything in the lab up to code and ready for either lab encoding, specimen taking, or medical rescuing, should we have to serve as adjuncts to the medical staff. Please make sure that everyone has their proper equipment should they have to beam to the station for whatever emergency might be there. I might be running each shift through practice drills as well, if there is a bio hazard and we have to run containment fields in here while working. Run some scenarios and see what the computer comes up with, okay? I want to be prepared for whatever we might come across..."
Garaw tried not to show any emotion on his face and was surprised that she said nothing at all about Miller and went straight into a mission brief. He nodded his head and said, "Aye, Sir. I'll get right on it. I should have something for you when you return. I'll work on scenarios and inventory for right now."
"Good..I'll talk to you in a little bit. Dismissed." And she left him and went straight to her office...she was not pleased with Miller, but there was no reason for anyone to know it, and it really had nothing to do with her work...
