Is the mission over? I really haven't been able to tell. Ussually it's fairly obvious but I'm not sure if this one is over or if we're waiting for the proverbial 'other shoe' to drop. I'm not sure why we're still hanging around this area of space.
On the whole I thought it was a good mission. Strange. Difficult. Confusing. But good. Were it an hour of television I wouldn't have changed the channel. I did think we tread a bit heavily on the PG rating of the game and, in at least one case, outright broke it.
It was a bit difficult to remain engaged being so far away from the 'action' up in TIC but I suspect that will be a constant struggle in my current position - and I'm not looking to change to a new one. I felt there were opportunities for my character that were overlooked but that could have easily been by choice and that's fine. I'm bothered that Falha had to leave TIC to have an active role in the story's conclusion. Had she remained up there would she have had any role in the conclusion of this mission?
I was disappointed by the involvement of the crew. I had joined the Broadsword because it had such a strong reputation as being an intense writing group but it really just seemed like only a few of us were consistently posting. Even now I could probably only tell you the names of six or seven Player Characters on the ship because those are the ones I see posting ... surely there's more on our roster then that. I'm certain their are.
It also seemed that, at times, the crew wasn't at the front of the action but rather was following along behind it. What I mean by that is that our actions in the mission should dictate what happens next. Example: Falha hits T'Kai in the face. The XO presses charges. <-- That's an example of an action and a reaction. I felt at times like the reaction was happening and then the action was having to be invented to fit the reaction that had already been put out there. In short, I didn't feel the actions of the characters were always driving the story and that can lead to accusations of scripting.
Anyway, not to be a downer. I did think it was a good mission and I'm looking forward to the next one. I'm hoping the crew gets more into it and we see some of our missing players return to regular posting.
