[McKnight, in the War room]
John listened carefully to the discussion around him and he was beginning to formalize a plan. Each and everyone of them had a valid point and in order to be successful, they had to maximize their impact. The Captain was a bit sad to hear that another officer had fallen victim to the Zikkomt. Ensign Straada was a good officer and full of potential. It was way too soon to lose someone at that young age.
"You have a point, Doctor. We should always try diplomacy first, but without hearing anything from HQ, we're not sure how successful the Federation Council was able to build that relation. However, based on the continued attacks the Zikkomt has launched on our ships, it's probably safe to say that diplomacy hasn't had much success. I'm always willing to give it a try though. Maybe that could be our secondary objective once we sabotage and or destory their communication methods." said John.
Kaim, whom John have known for quite some time now, then spoke about taking over some of the Zikkomt attack ships. It was a good idea and it carried some risk, but it would give them an opportunity to enlarge their fleets. The problem was that Zikkomt attack ships were not easy to capture since they tended to self destruct if the proper coded wasn't entered correct every few hours.
McKnight nodded, "I say we try it. By capturing one of their ships we can gather intelligence, figure out their transmission protocols and language. We could also try and extend a line of diplomacy with the Captain. The issue is getting their Captain to cooperate so that we don't blow ourselves up by entering the wrong command codes. Let's put it to a vote. Who's in favor of capturing a Zikkomt attack vessel?"
John rose his own hand. In his opinion, it would give them a chance to gather some key intelligence.
