Okay, creatively putting the site back in gear is the easy part. We all have ideas for plots and characters. The hard part is setting the stage. Once that is in motion, we can go crazy. There is a ton (and I do mean a shit-ton) of work that goes into such efforts behind the curtain. I can't say this strongly enough. It is a life consuming bitch to kick something off again. The only saving grace is that we have the bones of the old stuff to work with.
I will let a little of my cat out of the bag with what I have worked up. Something I have never seen successfully done is created a viable platform for players to effectively create playable android characters. IF we bump things forward a couple of decades, I have a very viable and tested format for creating android characters. I have been testing out ideas both here on ACTD (when we were still writing) and for well over a year on another site. I have played out pitfalls and benefits enough that I have serious material that is in work for a non-Star Trek sci-fi novel in progress. That said, I am prepared to discuss, with those in power, a template that defines a machine/program based race that is unlike anything offered on any other site and is compatible with canon Star Trek technology, yet is completely different than Data. I'll not say more now, but that would be something interesting that might help us draw in more new fish. We may want to dangle it as an option for writers that have reached a certain rank, giving them a goal, or any of a number of ideas, but that is what I'm tossing on the table for right now.
Let me know what you think. Feel free to email me on the side if this aspect of Treknology is of interest to you.
