[Raiser, working]
Cathy had remained in her ready room for quite some time, there were a lot of reports that needed to be done for Starfleet Command, the Corps of Engineers and even Vulcan Institute of Science. It seemed every organization wanted their own little piece of information - Command wanted everything, the engineers wanted the damage report and scans of the LFS vessels, and the science institute wanted data on the nebula. For the most part, she did not mind doing the reports, it was the tedious but necessary part of the job - something she knew she would have to do when she signed up to Starfleet and was placed on the fast track for head of department positions.
Fortunately, the majority of the work had been done by her own departments, she just needed to filter out the last of it and put it in a standard template. Regardless, she wished they could improve the sorting algorithm a little more so the computer could do more of the work. Almost by comedic timing, her notification popped up stating she had been assigned a new Chief of Operations. Using the break from her task wisely, she took a look at the vacancies currently on the ship.
The Chief of Operations position had now been filled, which was good since it seemed, as talented as D'Salazar was, they needed someone to help her with the Bridge duties. Obviously Starfleet had taken her request seriously as it had not taken long for them to dispatch a new officer to assist. She took a moment to review his profile, she liked to know who she was working with. What she noticed was the distinct lack of family history... both parents involved in covert operations with Starfleet. That would make him either a great risk to the ship, given the Marswoman's past experience with Operations officers... or a great asset in his knowledge of intrusion detection.
He was an Earthborne, which was interesting, since he came from the North Americas... 'Not far to travel to school it seems...' she thought, referring to the fact that Starfleet was also in North America. She had just finished reviewing his profile, as well as approving the awards and promotions of the rest of the ship when her door chime went.
"Enter." she replied, her brown eyes focusing on the door to see who it was. She reached for her cup of coffee, scowling slightly as she realized it had gone cold.
{Once he has entered}
The person who entered matched the biography of the man she had just been reading about a few minutes before.
"Ensign Williamson." she rose from her seat, her leg protesting at the change in position, but she ignored it.
Extending her hand in the Terran handshake, she continued,
"Welcome to the Victoria, you have come at a good time." she smiled slightly,
"Please have a seat."
She gestured to the seat opposite her, as she lowered herself back into her chair.
"I am sure, by now, you have received a briefing from Starfleet regarding our current mission status and what occurred in the previous mission. In short, this vessel encountered several League of Free Systems' vessels and managed to neutralize them, but our ship, as you might have seen on the way in, took some heavy damage. Task Force three gamma is now patrolling that area and the crew is now on shore leave for a few weeks while the engineers repair the vessel and new personnel arrive."
She shifted in her position slightly, taking the weight off her right side subconsciously,
"This is a good time for yourself to familiarize yourself with this vessel's unique procedures as well as meet some of the senior staff under less pressing circumstances. Do you have any questions?"
