I'm here, sort of. Sorry I've been lousy about posting. I'll try to get better.by Mukavich - Valdivian Station / USS Trinity
Alexei sat back in his chair, stifling the urge to kick his feet up onto the table. People were filtering in slowly, and the people that entered didn't seem to have much better idea of what was going on than he did. If they were all that was left in charge of the station, then maybe he didn't make too much a mess of his assignment, after all. Maybe he might make something of himself here.by Mukavich - Valdivian Station / USS Trinity
Alexei entered the observation lounge quietly, trying not to arouse more attention than the hissing doors would already. The corridors were pretty quiet on his way up, suggesting to him that the other crew was called away to something rather a bit more important. Couple that with the fact that whoever was acting as commander called him up specifically -- there was something going on. Probaby Mukavich - Valdivian Station / USS Trinity

With the proper music, anything was possible, and Alexei found his groove not only easy to get to, but easy to maintain. Maybe there was something to this science officer business, after all. The new section of code he'd written seemed to have passed all the tests he could throw at it, and it was compiling just fine, which meant that it was ready for integration with the main body now. If you need a Science Officer, Alexei is on station, just call him up.by Mukavich - Valdivian Station / USS Trinity
With little else to do, Alexei had shacked himself up in one of the free offices in the science wing. He wasn't sure which one was actually his per-se, but Sara had been helpful enough in providing him with a list of free locations, and he really didn't feel like taking up the CSO's office for too much longer. The captain and senior staff had left on a mission with Trinity, the attached cruiby Mukavich - Valdivian Station / USS Trinity

So, moving and school kinda sorta got the better of me, and I've not been around in a bit. Sorry about that! I'm going to do my best to get all caught up and stuff, but I was kind of wondering where and how I could jump back in. It seems we're sort of in the thick of things. If anyone could help me out with a quick summary and getting my feet back under me, that would be fantastic. Thanby Mukavich - Valdivian Station / USS Trinity
I'm here. I'll be getting posts up momentarily.by Mukavich - Valdivian Station / USS Trinity
I need a Leave of Absence from the 11th to the 18th, since I'll be on vacation in the boonies. Thanks much.by Mukavich - Valdivian Station / USS Trinity
Apparently, his last question was one that Sara was unprepared to answer, judging by the hesitation and small blush that she gave before launching into an explanation. Apparently, she was one of the only sapient AIs on the station, if not the entire Federation. Alexei hadn't heard of any AI quite like her. Apparently, as far as AIs went, there was only the EMH, and another named 'Buster' iby Mukavich - Valdivian Station / USS Trinity
Alexei listened as Sara explained how she knew what she knew, leaving him with the thought that he maybe shouldn't have asked. It seemed that she was tied into the systems quite extensively, being an AI construct, but had a sense of propriety and didn't exercise those abilities without reason. All to the better, because Alexei was sure he didn't want her peeking in on his own liaisons (shouby Mukavich - Valdivian Station / USS Trinity
Alexei marveled at how quickly Sara seemed to switch from pensive to... subservient? Helpful? Helpful was probably the better way to put it. And though it was almost definitely due to her programming, her affect seemed to be decidedly organic. Did she actually startle when she turned around, or was it just in his imagination? He chuffed. Even odds, he supposed. Either he was projectingby Mukavich - Valdivian Station / USS Trinity
Alexei bit back a frustrated chuff as he realized that his work was hitting a dead-end. Sara, as helpful as she was, wouldn't be able to help get him any further with the information that was available. To be fair, he could spend more time analyzing the signal and its contents for telltales that would help point to its origin, but that would take awhile, and whatever conclusions he would coby Mukavich - Valdivian Station / USS Trinity
It's right before finals, and I'm trying to get out from under things, but it's not working. I might have to ask for a couple weeks' LOA.by Mukavich - Valdivian Station / USS Trinity
Sorry about the absence. School and life kind of caught up with me. Between papers, exams, and trying to find a new place to live, it's been a bit hectic. Hopefully I'll be able to get done enough to start regular posting at the end of next week. With that in mind, a question: What the hell is my character supposed to be doing now? Sara continued, pointing to one of the representations of the relays. "Unfortunately, this is impossible. This relay was decommissioned several years ago. It was destroyed and replaced. That means that at least this part of the information was falsified in some way. The person knew how to hide their tracks. We have no idea how many of these links are real and how many might be false. Thby Mukavich - Valdivian Station / USS Trinity
Alexei's fingers flew over the panel even as Trask was giving him permission. It was, after all, a formality. If they wanted to establish control over the station, they'd have to have control over the computers. That started with making sure that the systems were working as they should. Sending the queries, he attempted to initiate the diagnostics. If the console was set up correctly, anby Mukavich - Valdivian Station / USS Trinity
Three exams this week. I've not had a lot of time to post. Spring break this week, though, so I think I can make up for lost time. I should have something up by the end of tomorrow, for sure.by Mukavich - Valdivian Station / USS Trinity
Sara smiled, blushed and looked down briefly, "I'm sorry, I'm rambling again...um...more simply put, thank you for asking." Alexei gave a small chuckle and a smile, "Well, you're probably going to have to get used to it, I'm afraid. Your programming is some of the best I've seen, and if I didn't know any better, I'd say you were human." he paused, "Hell, the factby Mukavich - Valdivian Station / USS Trinity
Alexei watched as the computers did their thing, calling up additional data as he had time. Luckily for him, a relay point had picked the signal up, making the simulations somewhat easier. Or, at least, it narrowed the field a little bit. What was weird was the fact that the computers had come up with two possible areas, rather than one. "Alexei, you and I can work on this. I want you to make sure that what we're doing isn't being remotely monitored." "I'm a computer scientist, not a magician, sir." Alexei said simply, as he moved up to the panel. Huffing a sigh, his ears flicked back in minor irritation as he reminded himself that the CSO likely had little real knowledge of computer science. A woman dashed up to him carrying a toolkit. Alexei didn't pause to see what her species was, nor did he particularly care. At this point he needed someone who was competent and who could check his work as he went along. Hopefully, she'd fit the bill. "Alright crewman..." he paused, waiting for her to supply her name. So, I was making my post, and when I went to finalize it, Phorum threw me an error saying that it was awaiting moderator approval. It's happened once before, and I didn't think much of it -- figured it was a kick in the pants to get moving to where I should be. Thing is, I'm posting where I should be right now. “Thanks, Sara.” he said, turning to the task at hand. First things first, he pulled up the data from the signal itself, throwing it on the screen to his left. He wasn't particularly interested in the specifics of the information, but rather metadata that should be preceding the file transmission itself. Trask led him to a wall panel that promised to be functional, and indeed, it was quite pristine. That was a start. He'd still need some tools to work on the panel, but he might be able to make some headway anyway. Running his hands along the bulkhead seams, he located the hidden catches and pulled the panels down from above and below the console. When he asked about making some adjustments, Sara walked out and simply said "Certainly." And with that, the entire room disappeared. Alexei had to stifle a jump. As it was, his tail flicked madly, as his eyes adjusted to the sudden lack of general light.
